In 2001, before the work was under the "BentWithLight" brand, live recordings took place in various genres and approaches. Recorded live to DAT, these dubs were digitally transferred in 2012 for this release, which represents the beginning sound and mood at the time. Many of the songs were remarkably minimal and stark compared to recent work, but still emotive and pure and felt it was important to release this collection; where at the time, i was quite comfortable and able to explore. Many of the songs were self-released as one-offs, demos and the first works to be published on the internet to a now-defunct music website in 2001. Upon my DAT recorder crashing a couple years later, these songs were presumably in cold storage indefinitely until a friend lent me another much later.
